Hydro by Vinze
Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Hydro by Vinze ("the App") is an iOS hydration tracker published by Vinze. This policy explains what information the App uses, why it uses it, and where that information is stored.
Data stored by the app
The App stores the following data locally on your device:
- Fluid intake entries (amount, drink type, date)
- App settings (daily goal, notification preferences)
The following optional features use additional data or services only with your permission:
- Apple HealthKit data (weight, physical activity, water intake)
- Data synchronization via iCloud across your devices
- Photos selected for the AI Cup Scanner, processed by Google's Gemini AI service through Firebase
- Saved scan history photos, only when you choose to save a vessel
AI Cup Scanner
Hydro includes an optional AI scanner that estimates the volume of a drinking vessel from a photo. When you use it:
- The photo you choose is sent to Google's Gemini AI service through Firebase for analysis
- The App does not save the photo automatically or store it on servers operated by Vinze
- If you select Save vessel, the App stores a compressed copy in the scan history on that device only
- Scan history is not synced through iCloud, is excluded from backup, and can be deleted entry by entry or all at once
- Google may process the image in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
- The feature requires camera or photo library access, depending on how you select the image
- Usage is limited to 15 scans per day
How the app uses data
The App uses this data to:
- Track daily fluid intake
- Calculate recommended hydration goals
- Display statistics and history
- Send local water drinking reminders
- Estimate cup volume via AI, only when you use the scanner
I do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising. Information leaves your device only when you choose an optional feature described here, such as AI scanning through Google and Firebase or iCloud sync through Apple.
Apple HealthKit
When Apple Health integration is enabled, the App:
- Reads body weight, physical activity, and water intake saved by other apps
- Writes your water intake to Apple Health
HealthKit data is not used for advertising or shared with third parties. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in System Settings.
iCloud
When iCloud synchronization is enabled:
- Hydration data is stored in your private iCloud container
- Only you have access to this data
- Synchronization happens automatically across your Apple devices
In-app purchases
In-app purchases are handled by the Apple App Store. I do not have access to your payment information. Apple stores transaction information in accordance with its privacy policy.
Data storage
Most data stays on your device or in your private iCloud container. The optional AI scanner sends only the photo you select to Google and Firebase for analysis. Photos saved to scan history remain on the device, are compressed, are excluded from backups, and are not synced through iCloud.
You can delete data at any time:
- In the app: Settings → Clear today's data
- In AI Scanner: delete one saved scan or clear scan history
- By deleting the app from your device
